US Travel Ban: 39 Countries Can't Get F1 Student Visas in 2026

If you wanna come study in America as an international student, then you need to know about this. There are currently 39 countries on the U. S. Travel ban list, 20 of which are on the full ban list and 19 are on the partial ban list. Now, if you are a citizen of one of these fully banned countries, it means that you cannot get a visa to come to the United States of America, and this includes student visas. Now, if you are a citizen of a country on the partial ban list, it means that you can only get certain visas to come to the United States. However, unfortunately one of those visas is not the student visa. So if you wanna come study in America, you will not be able to get the visa in order to come and study in America if your country is on the partial ban list. What that means is if you're applying to schools right now and you come from one of these countries, then it's gonna be very difficult for you to get a visa this year as long as the ban is in effect. However, even though you cannot get a visa right now, you should still be applying to schools in America if you wanna come and study here. Now the reason why I say so is because you can defer your enrollment. So once you get accepted to any of these universities, you can actually tell them that Hey, I cannot get a visa right now. I would love to defer my enrolment to the next year. Now, the reason why you still wanna do this is because many countries are cooperating with the United States of America. And what that means is some of these countries might be taken off the travel ban list. So if you defer your admissions to the next year, there's a chance that your country could be taken off the travel ban list and you'll be able to get your visa. Now, the second reason why you wanna be still applying is because many of these schools that give full scholarships to international students are seeing a substantial decrease in the number of international students who are applying to their schools. So it's going to be easier for you to get into these schools this year than in most other years. So what you wanna do is you still wanna apply and if you get accepted into one of these colleges, you can defer your enrolment if your country is still on the travel ban list.
