The trump administration has been sued over the ban that they imposed on seventy five countries when it comes to immigration. Now if you haven't heard, a couple of weeks ago the state department actually paused the issuance of immigrant visas. And basically what that means is they were not giving immigrant visas to people from seventy five countries. These visas are specifically for people who are trying to become american permanent residents and basically trying to get their green cards. So it doesn't affect people who are trying to come to america on a non immigrant visa such as a student visa or a travel visa. Now what has happened is a group of non profit organisations have come together and filed a lawsuit against this ban. And they're basically asking a judge to block this ban. And if they succeed then this ban could be eliminated. Now this is the reason why i've been telling people that you should still be applying to schools in america if you are thinking about studying here. This is because even if your country is on the U S. Travel ban list for instance, then there are these type of things that can happen which could allow you to get a visa later on. What I mean by that is if somebody brings a lawsuit and that goes to a judge and they ask for a temporary halt on the travel bans, then if that's enforced, you'll be able to get your Visa in order to come to america and study here. So this is the main point. You need to still be applying to schools in america even if your country is on the U. S. Travel ban list. Now just to be as clear as possible, the U. S. Travel ban is specifically for people who are trying to enter the united states as non immigrant, meaning that you're trying to get either a student visa or even a tourist visa. Whereas this ban over here, which the lawsuit is on, is for immigrant visas, meaning that this is for people who are trying to become U. S. Permanent residents. So it's quite different. However, the fundamentals are still the same in that if there's a lawsuit then they could pause these bans.
