[Music] hi YouTube and welcome back to my channel so today I'm actually going to be giving you the three reasons why I decided to come study in America I'm hoping that these three reasons are going to also provide you some insight on why you should probably come and study in America as an international student now I came to America in 2013 and I started out actually at a community college before transfering onto a fouryear school in order to get like my bachelor's degree and the reasons why I decided to come America to America in 2013 are still very relevant to the reasons why you should consider coming to America in 2024 the first reason why I decided to come to America was because of the prestige there's no denying it American schools are highly ranked throughout the world so whenever I met someone in South Africa that came from an American school and this wasn't even like the IB League school or anything like that just a normal American school they were always looked up upon and they always looked upon as Geniuses now this is the thing that happens throughout the world and I can attest to it having attended American schools and graduated from American schools and applied to jobs throughout the world there's a certain element of prestige that you're given when you come from an American school so if you think about the Harvard the mits the stanfords so a lot of the time these schools are looked at as the Pinnacle of higher education what all other schools are aspiring to be like and at the end of the day when you come to America you are getting exposed to those schools at many state schools you'll have professors who went to the IV League or Stanford by having access to those professors you are getting that Prestige element so whether you like it or not the higher education institutions in America are seen as prestigious and this will definitely help you in the future as you start your career number two you can study what you like so one of the biggest issues that I had in South Africa was that my math scores were not great and because my math scores were not great I couldn't go and study Actuarial science that's what I was interested in studying so my high school math score prevented me from studying something in University this does not happen in America in America your high school scores and your sats are only used to get you into the university they're not used to prevent you from pursuing a major in the University so what I mean by that is even if you flunk math if you get into a university and you've been accepted you can still major in math in that University so you're not prevented from majoring in a certain topic if your high school scores are bad and this is often seen throughout the world that your test scores that you get in high school are going to influence what major you can take or pursue in college and university that's not the case in America you can study whatever you like so having that responsibility of studying whatever you like irrespective of what your high school grades were is definitely a big benefit to come and study in America and this is probably one of the biggest reasons why I came to study in America because I did not have the opportunity to study what I wanted to study in South Africa the third reason is probably the biggest and most obvious reason money once you graduate from a university in America you are going to be getting paid a lot of money now Americans are probably looking at me and saying no no that's not the case it is $40,000 $50,000 starting out salary is a lot of money in so many parts of the world including America so if you come and study in America and you making $50,000 and you saving some of that money in your own currency you can see that you'll be making a lot of money but here's the kicker the better the school you go to the more you're going to earn so you will see ivy league graduates making $85,000 and you'll see computer science graduates making over $100,000 so think about that $100,000 for your first job I mean that that is crazy and I can attest to this being the case when I got my bachelor's degree out of college my first job was paying me like $55,000 and again this is an international student who has had nothing before right I wasn't make anything before and now I'm making $555,000 that was equivalent to like a million Rand so you are going to be making a lot of money now it gets even better when you majoring like computer science or you get a master's degree because then you get pushed above that $100,000 Mark and that is really really great money so those are the three reasons why I decided to come and study in America and I can attest to all of them of being still true in 2024 and I believe it's going to be still true throughout the next 10 years so definitely as you start thinking about coming to America have these three things in mind as it's going to help you make a better decision thank you for watching like And subscribe so that I know that these are the type of videos that you want me to continue make have a great one
