Full Ban Countries (20)

All visas blocked. No F-1, no tourist visa, no green card. The 20 countries under full ban and what it means.

Full Ban Countries — All Visas Blocked#

Pro Tip

As of April 2026. Countries can be added or removed from this list at any time. Always check the latest proclamation on the White House website for the most current list.

If your country is on this list, every type of US visa is blocked. No student visa. No tourist visa. No work visa. No immigrant visa. No green card processing. Nothing.

This is the most severe level of the ban.

What "Full Ban" Means in Practice#

Let me spell this out so there is no confusion:

  • F-1 student visa — BLOCKED
  • B-1/B-2 tourist visa — BLOCKED
  • J-1 exchange visa — BLOCKED
  • H-1B work visa — BLOCKED
  • Immigrant visa (green card) — BLOCKED
  • Diversity Visa Lottery — BLOCKED

There are no exceptions based on your qualifications, your acceptance letter, or how much money you have. If you are a citizen or national of one of these countries and you are outside the US without a valid visa, you cannot enter.

What If You Have Dual Citizenship?#

If you hold citizenship from a country that is not on the ban list, you may be able to apply using that passport instead. For example, if you are from Sudan but also hold British citizenship, you could apply as a British citizen.

However, this is a gray area and depends on your specific situation. Consult an immigration lawyer before relying on this strategy.

What If You Already Applied to US Schools?#

Your application is still valid. Universities are still accepting students from banned countries. The problem is not admission — it is the visa. You can:

  1. Get accepted and defer — hold your spot until the ban is lifted
  2. Study online — some programs offer remote options
  3. Redirect to Canada or another country — and transfer later if the ban lifts

I cover all three options in detail later in this course.

The Emotional Reality#

I want to acknowledge something. If your country is on this list, this is devastating. Many of you have been preparing for years — studying for English exams, saving money, building your applications. And now you are being told no because of where you were born.

That is not fair. And I am not going to pretend it is.

But here is what I have seen over and over again: the students who succeed are the ones who refuse to give up and find another path. The ban is a wall. We are going to find the doors.
