Final Words
Why starting this journey at 15 or 16 changes everything that comes after.
Let me tell you what I wish someone had told me at 15.
The biggest gap in this world is not between rich and poor. It is between people who know what is possible and people who do not. The rich kids at the fancy schools? Most of them are not smarter than you. They just had parents, teachers, and counselors who knew that places like UWC and Andover exist, knew the deadlines, knew the forms, knew the magic words.
Now you know too. That gap just closed.
Think about what you learned in this course. Eighteen UWC schools that select on promise, not money — with more than 80% of selected students on scholarship. An American boarding school that is need-blind for the whole world. A scholarship in Connecticut that flies African students home four times a year. A school in Johannesburg whose graduates carried $230 million in university scholarships out the door. A one-year program in Ghana that takes brilliant young women and turns them into A-Level physicists — for free.
These places are not fantasies. They publish their deadlines. They are waiting for applications. Somebody from your country will get in next year. The only question is whether it is somebody who found this course.
What To Do This Week#
- Find your UWC national committee and write down the deadline — that is your anchor application
- Pick your second and third programs from this course based on your age, country, and profile
- Start your story document — the hard things you have overcome, the things you have built, the reason you want this
- Tell your parents what you learned here. Show them the FAQ chapter. You will need them on your team
And if you want me personally walking you through your applications, step by step — that is exactly what my mentorship program is for:
One Last Thing#
When you get in — and one of you reading this will — you are going to sit in a classroom with students from fifty countries, and there will be a moment when you catch yourself thinking: "I almost did not apply."
Apply.
I will see you out there.
