December 15#
The earliest deadline. Apply well in advance.
| University | Transfer Acceptance Rate |
|---|---|
| Berea College | ~2.6% |
Berea has the earliest deadline and the lowest transfer acceptance rate on this list — but remember, tuition is free for every student. If you get in, you pay nothing.
February 15#
| University | Transfer Acceptance Rate |
|---|---|
| Pomona College | ~8.6% |
Pomona is part of the Claremont Colleges consortium in Southern California. Highly selective for transfers but fully funded.
March 1#
The first major deadline cluster — 12 schools are due on or around this date.
| University | Transfer Acceptance Rate |
|---|---|
| Brown University | ~4.1% |
| Bates College | ~4% |
| Columbia University | ~10.1% |
| Grinnell College | ~18.9% |
| Harvard University | ~0.8% |
| Princeton University | ~1.9% |
| Reed College | ~20% |
| University of Richmond | ~15–16% |
| Whitman College | ~39% |
| Yale University | ~1.5% |
Best odds in this group: Whitman (~39%), Reed (~20%), Grinnell (~18.9%)
Caveat on Richmond: it's often cited as a transfer "safety" near 45.6%, but its real transfer rate is only ~15–16% (roughly 50 transfers from about 300 fall applications). Its international transfer funding is extremely limited and transfers aren't eligible for the Richmond Scholars merit award — so treat Richmond as a reach for funded international transfers, not an easy option.
Caveat on Grinnell: ~18.9% is the overall transfer rate. Grinnell's international aid budget is sequestered for freshmen and it says need-based aid for international transfers is extremely rare — so if you need a full ride, treat Grinnell as effectively freshman-only.
March 2#
| University | Transfer Acceptance Rate |
|---|---|
| Amherst College | ~5-7% |
| Williams College | ~2.8% |
| Middlebury College | ~8.3% |
Three of the top liberal arts colleges in America, all due the day after March 1. Mark both dates on your calendar.
March 15#
The second major cluster — 7 schools with varying selectivity.
| University | Transfer Acceptance Rate |
|---|---|
| Cornell University | ~9.3% |
| Macalester College | ~28.6% |
| Kenyon College | ~30% |
| Scripps College | ~14.1% |
| Stanford University | ~1.6% |
| University of Pennsylvania | ~4.5% |
| University of Rochester | ~38.5% |
Best odds in this group: University of Rochester (~38.5%), Kenyon (~30%), Macalester (~28.6%)
Note on Rochester: that ~38.5% is the overall transfer rate. Funding for international transfers is extremely limited (typically a handful of students per cycle), so if you're requesting full aid, expect much tighter odds.
Caveat on Kenyon: that ~30% is Kenyon's overall transfer rate. Kenyon does NOT fund aid-seeking international transfers — its aid is reserved for freshmen, so transfers must fully self-fund. Treat Kenyon's transfer route as effectively unfunded if you need aid.
March 16#
| University | Transfer Acceptance Rate |
|---|---|
| Hamilton College | ~12.4% |
Just one day after the March 15 cluster. Hamilton has an open curriculum and strong focus on writing and communication.
March 31#
| University | Transfer Acceptance Rate |
|---|---|
| Carleton College | ~16.1% |
Carleton's trimester system and collaborative culture make it an excellent transfer destination, especially for STEM students.
April 1#
A late cluster with some of the most accessible transfer acceptance rates.
| University | Transfer Acceptance Rate |
|---|---|
| Oberlin College | ~25% |
| Pitzer College | ~26% |
| Skidmore College | ~39.3% |
| Trinity College (CT) | ~31.6% |
Best odds in this group: Skidmore (~39.3%), Trinity (~31.6%), Pitzer (~26%), Oberlin (~25%)
Caveat on Pitzer: that ~26% is the overall transfer rate, driven largely by self-funded and domestic applicants. Institutional aid for international transfers is near-unavailable and merit aid isn't offered to transfers at all, so if you're an aid-seeking international transfer your real odds are far tighter than the headline number.
May 1#
| University | Transfer Acceptance Rate |
|---|---|
| Lafayette College | ~21% |
Lafayette is one of the few liberal arts colleges with engineering programs. The May 1 deadline gives you extra time to prepare.
July 1#
The latest deadline on the list.
| University | Transfer Acceptance Rate |
|---|---|
| Colby College | ~5–8% |
Colby's late deadline means you can apply after hearing back from other schools. Very selective but fully funded with no-loan packages.

The Most Realistic Options (20%+ Acceptance Rate)#
If you want the best chances at a fully-funded transfer, focus on these 10 schools:
- Skidmore College — 39.3%
- Whitman College — 39%
- University of Rochester — 38.5%
- Trinity College — 31.6%
- Kenyon College — 30%
- Macalester College — 28.6%

Apply to several from this group to maximize your chances. (The University of Richmond is often included on lists like this near 45.6%, but its real transfer rate is only ~15–16% and its international transfer funding is extremely limited — so don't count it as an easy option.)
