3 Steps to Get a Full Scholarship in America (Even if You're Poor)
Discover the exact 3-step process to get a full scholarship at 60+ US colleges offering need-based aid to international students from poor backgrounds.

If you want to study in America but simply don't have the money or come from a very poor background, I have good news for you. There's a systematic approach that can help you get a full scholarship to study in the United States. I'm going to share the exact three-step process that thousands of international students have used successfully.
Step 1: Identify Schools That Offer Need-Based Financial Aid#
The first step is crucial — you need to identify schools in America that give full need-based financial aid to international students. Here's what you need to know:
- There are over 60 schools in America that look at your finances as an international student
- These universities determine how much money you need to attend their institution
- This is called need-based financial aid, where the university examines your demonstrated financial needs
- If you're from a poor background, these schools can provide a full scholarship
Many international students don't know about these opportunities. I've covered specific lists of these schools in my guides about 10 American universities offering 100% scholarships and schools still accepting applications.
Step 2: Apply to At Least 20 Schools#
Once you've identified these schools, you need to apply to at least 20 of them. Here's why this number matters and how to do it efficiently:
Use the Common Application#
- The Common App allows you to apply to up to 20 schools at a time
- You can get a fee waiver to apply for free if you qualify
- This makes it financially possible even if you're from a poor background
Why 20 Schools?#
Applying to 20 schools significantly increases your chances of:
- Getting accepted to multiple institutions
- Receiving full scholarship offers
- Having options to compare financial aid packages

Step 3: Submit the CSS Profile#
The third and final step is submitting the CSS Profile to each school you've applied to. This is absolutely critical:
What is the CSS Profile?#
- It's how universities and colleges determine how much money you need
- The CSS Profile gives them a complete picture of your finances
- If you're very poor, it will show them you need a full scholarship
Why It's Essential#
Without the CSS Profile:
- Schools can't assess your financial need
- You won't be considered for need-based aid
- Your application will be incomplete for scholarship consideration
The Complete Process Summary#
| Step | Action | Key Points |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Identify Schools | 60+ schools offer need-based aid |
| 2 | Apply to 20+ Schools | Use Common App + fee waivers |
| 3 | Submit CSS Profile | Required for all schools |
Timing is Critical#
The deadline is right around the corner, and there aren't many opportunities like this available to international students. You need to act quickly to take advantage of these programs.
